Matt's Gallery opened its doors in September 1979 in Robin Klassnik's SPACE studio on Martello Street. Our first show, David Troostwyk's Supreme Object, ran from 17 – 23 September 1979.
To mark 45 years since that show we have made a special tote bag.
The previous edition (white) has sold out. This new edition comes in pink.
The bag has been designed by Oberphones and is a tribute to Phil Baines, our designer between 1995 and 2023 who passed away in January 2024. Oberphones is Christopher Wilson, a graphic designer, writer and illustrator who studied under Phil and worked with him on our first book on Mike Nelson, Extinction Beckons, published in 2000.
The bag features a 45 logo in Baines' Doctor typeface, modified by Oberphones on the reverse with the numbers divided into a total of 45 parts, each labelled with a different year date.
Material: Double sided print on pink cotton
Dimensions: 38x43cm with long handles
Price: £7,5 inclusive of VAT (+ P&P)
