The Norwegian Series is a suite of four photographic works made by Fiona Crisp during a summer night in the Vinstra region of central Norway in 1999.

A print of Norwegian Series #3 2007 (30x42cm) was included in the limited edition A3 portfolio E3 4RR published by Matt’s Gallery in 2007.

Full-sized originals (104x154x5cm, mounted and framed) of Norwegian Series #1 and Norwegian Series #3 were exhibited in Fiona Crisp, Matthew Tickle, Phillip Warnell at Matt’s Gallery, September 2005. Crisp’s photographs, taken from three different series, were presented under the title Hyper Passive. The photographs worked together to problematise the presence of light, containing either an excess of light, or too little, or creating an uncomfortably indeterminate relation between interior and exterior space. Norwegian Series #4can be read in this vein. Crisp stated ‘I am not interested in presenting the world coalesced into a dynamic visual image – either staged or documentary. I want to create a hiatus, suspended from space and time and yet absolutely bound by space and time – an impossible space.’

Each print is supplied with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
